Monday, March 2 – OutTalk: Queer Narratives – Show & Tell, hosted by the UBCO Pride Resource Centre ~ Kelowna

Come join us for our first OutTalk during OutWeek 2020! This event will take place Monday, March 2nd, in the PRC (UNC 132) from 5:00pm to 6:00pm.

This OutTalk, we will be doing a classic round of Show & Tell! Please bring an item with you to Show & Tell us about that embodies some part of your experience as a queer person, as we learn more about one another and explore queer narratives.

OutTalks are discussions hosted by the Pride Resource Centre. We invite people to come share their point of view in a safe, moderated space.

Wednesday, March 4 – Girls Social Group, hosted by Foundry Kelowna ~ Kelowna

Foundry #Kelowna invites girls aged 14-18 to be a part of the Girls Social Group taking place weekly on Wednesdays (February 5 – March 11) from 3:30pm-5pm.

This group open to anyone identifying as female and will be held in a LGBTQ2+ friendly space. The group will be based around topics such as #selfworth#selfcare, and social media, and will offer a variety activities for participants to take part in.

The ultimate goal of this group is to provide a safe space where girls can be themselves. 🤗

Wednesday, March 4 – Positive Space Workshop, hosted by the UBCO Pride Resource Centre ~ Kelowna

Come join us for a Positive Space Training Workshop on Wednesday, March 4th, in LIB 111 from 2:30pm to 4:00pm!

The Positive Space foundational workshop covers current language, issues, resources, and best practices in an interactive and experiential learning environment. Participants will gain relevant knowledge and skills to use in their academic, work and campus life. LGBTQIA2+ folks and allies welcome!

This valuable and informative workshop is part of the Positive Space campaign. Launched in 2002, the Positive Space campaign is a campus-wide initiative intended to raise awareness and visibility of lesbian, gay, bisexual, two-spirit, trans and queer students, staff, faculty, alumni and allies at UBC.

The aim of the campaign is to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment, respectful dialogue on campus for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities by identifying spaces where sexual and gender diversity is supported and valued.

Express yourself during OutWeek 2020! Art supplies will be provided, so get ready to draw, paint, colour, whatever! Let’s get colourful and creative.

Thursday, March 5 – Out in Schools Community Presentation, hosted by Foundry Penticton ~ Penticton

This is a Free Event that Everyone is Welcome to Attend

This Event is for anyone who works, lives and plays in our community/area to become more knowledgeable on an important topic.

This Event is also for Parents to come and gain knowledge and vocabulary on a topic that is important to their kids.

This will be a safe & diverse environment that is open to everyone who wants to learn more about the impact of transphobia & homophobia and how to love unconditionally.

Out in Schools is a film-based resource designed to provoke discussions about sexual orientation, gender identity and broader social justice issues.

You can expect to see Short Films, Ask Questions, Have Discussions, Get Answers, Gain Awareness and Understanding.

Come sing your heart out with the PRC for a night of karaoke!
We’ll be starting off with some fun Disney tunes from beloved movies, and we have about 100,000 karaoke songs to choose from if Mickey Mouse’s music isn’t your thing. Belt out your go-to karaoke songs to celebrate OutWeek 2020!

Saturday, March 7 – Embodiment V Drag Show ~ Kelowna

EMBODIMENT is back where it all began, at the Well Pub UBCO, 7 years later, still going strong!

Sunday, March 8 – Artist Talk – Christopher Lacroix, hosted by Art House in Lake Country ~ Lake Country

We are thrilled to announce that Vancouver based artist Christopher Lacroix will be doing an artist talk at The Laundry Room! Join us for coffee and tea to learn more about Christopher’s artistic practise and the influence of his queer identity on Sunday, March 8th at 4pm.

His work is currently on display at The Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art for his exhibition, Part One: There is a Minimum to Operate Properly, on view until March 7th.
